A replica of a sculpture of a man reading a newspaper by the sculptor Pieter d'Hont has served as the FD Henri Sijthoff Prize since 1969. The prize itself is named after the father of Mr H.A.H. Sijthoff, who was the director of the publishing company of Het Financieele Dagblad at the time the prize was established.
